Separate SMS/Text Messages from E-mails

If you want to separate your SMS/Text messages from your regular e-mail inbox, just follow these steps:

In the Messages application

1. Display the menu by pressing the click wheel
2. Select Options
3. Select General Options.
4. In the SMS and E-mail Inboxes field, change the option to Separate
5. Press the escape button, and select Save.
6. Escape from "Message Options"
   

How to enable HTML browsing

1. Go to the browser. (Choose the Globe icon)
2. Click options.
3. When the 2 options appear, type rbro and then 3 more options will appear.
4. On the browser config option go to Constrained Content Mode and select Unconstrained.
5. Save and exit out of the browser config options.
6. Go back into browser config and change content mode to WML & HTML.
7. Save and exit out of the browser config options.

Missing Icons

1. While at the Home Screen, press in the ALT key and the Track wheel together.
2. You will get a drop down menu with options to "Move Icon", "Hide Icon", and "Show All". Select the "Show All" option and you'll see your hidden icon with an X on top of it.
3. Highlight the icon in question and press the ALT key and the Track Wheel together again and select "Hide Icon" to uncheck it.
4. Then select the "Show All" option to make sure it is not check marked.

Automatically Dial an Extension

Store telephone numbers in the Address Book with the extension added to the end.
e.g. 712-555-5555 x104

When the number is dialed, the BlackBerry will wait for 2 seconds then dial the extension.

To change the default of 2 seconds, go to: Phone > Options > Smart Dialing > To access extensions in all other corporations, call the number, then Wait for: 2 seconds

BlackBerry Web Client

BlackBerry Web Client for: AT&T / Cingular, Verizon

Use the BlackBerry Web Client to adjust options regarding your BlackBerry e-mail service.

Manage the size of your mailbox by setting auto-aging rules to permanently delete messages from your account.

If you are receiving "BlackBerry WebClient Mailbox Full" messages, then setting auto-aging rules to delete messages after one day is probably a good place to start. You may still need to log into the BlackBerry Web Client to delete messages to free up space in your mailbox.

Reboot Your BlackBerry

Pressing ALT+CAP+DEL will reboot your BlackBerry. (Press and hold down each key in succession and together, like CTRL+ALT+DEL on a PC)

No data will be lost.

How do I keep phone calls from showing up in my message list?

Disable phone logging

1. Open the Phone application
2. Click the trackwheel
3. Select options
4. Click on "Call Logging"
5. Change "Show Logs In Message List" to No.

Uncaught exception: Process 'Phone' killed due to message queue overflow

If you get the above error message, you may have too many messages and the BlackBerry is running low on memory.

Try this:

1. Turn off your BlackBerry
2. Remove the battery for 10 seconds
3. Put the battery back in
4. Once the BlackBerry has finished booting up, delete at least 10 messages

BlackBerry 6280 Call Waiting Scrambled Font Issue

Issue

When on the phone and another call comes in, the BlackBerry switches to the screen that allows you to choose whether to Answer - Hold Current, Answer - Drop Current, or Ignore.

If the choices on the call waiting screen are scrambled, and you are unable to see which choice is which, try the fix below.

Resolution

1. Turn BlackBerry off
2. Remove the battery
3. Reinsert the battery.
   (The BlackBerry should start up on its own)
4. Turn on the antenna if the BlackBerry says "OFF" in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

1. Remove the SIM card.
   (Gently slide it to the left, and the right side should flip up. You don't have to actually remove the SIM card. Once it flips up, it's disconnected from the BlackBerry and that's enough. Go to step 2.)
2. Reinsert the SIM card.
   (Make sure it's locked in by sliding the holder to the right.)

Tools and Parts

The screws that hold the case together may come loose over time, and may fall out without warning. Check your case screws on a regular basis. You'll need a No. 6 Torx screwdriver.
